Delphion Patent Server Delphion, a paid subscription product, provides patent collections & searching options to see inside the world's important patent databases. Delphion hosts the Derwent World Patents Index®. Derwent gives patent titles and abstracts written in English using descriptive, industry-specific terms as well as the ability to view only one record per invention, eliminating the duplication created by multiple patent publications.
Free Patents Online Free patent searching of US and European patents, PDF downloading, accounts that allow the organization of documents and searches, notification service and RSS feeds of new patents and published applications.
Google Patent Search Google Patent Search covers the entire collection of patents made available by the USPTO—from patents issued in the 1790s through those issued in the middle of 2006. Google Patents doesn't currently include patent applications, international patents, or U.S. patents issued over the last few months, but we look forward to expanding our coverage in the future. SCOPUS SCOPUS is an abstracts database of more than 27 million records from over 14,000 peer reviewed titles in the medical, scientific, technical, and social science literature. Full-text patent information is also included. More than 60% of the journal titles are from countries other than the United States and include both journals that are unique to MEDLINE and journals that are unique to EMBASE, the European biomedical database that is particularly strong in drug information. SCOPUS was developed using a “user-centered design” based on collaboration among 21 institutions and 300 researchers worldwide. Available to UTHSCSA students, faculty and staff who have registered with the Library and have set a PIN.

Fedstats: One Stop Shopping for Federal Statistics
Hospital Compare The Hospital Compare Website from the US Department of Health and Human Services collects statistics on quality of care at hospitals across the country. Since its launch in 2005, more than 4,000 hospitals have submitted comparable data measures for treatment of heart attack, heart failure, and pneumonia. Nearly 1,500 hospitals are also reporting data on prevention of surgical site infections.

Microsoft CEA Agreement for Students The HSC has a volume licensing agreement for several Microsoft products, which allows students, faculty, and staff to purchase these products for $5 per CD (some titles include several CDs). Students must fill out the Student EULA found on this page and take it (and their student ID) to the Bookstore when making their first purchase under this agreement.

STAT!Ref Stat!Ref Electronic Medical Library provides quick access to a number of full-text medical reference books covering the areas of diagnosis and treatment in a variety of medical specialties, such as Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cardiology, and Surgery. Texts on coding, drug information, and abbreviations and acronyms are also available.
SUMSearch SUMSearch is an Internet search engine for medical knowledge developed at the UT Health Science Center by Dr. Robert Badgett. It selects the best resources among several full-text books and biomedical databases for the question, formats the question for each resource, and makes additional searches based on results. Use of the search engine is available to all.
