Electronic Books
The Library has access to more than 31,000 electronic books (e-books) and the number is growing, thanks to cooperative purchases through the UT System Digital Library and TexShare. The e-books that are related to health sciences, and selectively to computers and management, can be located through the BLIS catalog, and all e-books are accessible through the collections described below.
Every e-book collection -- and in some cases, individual books -- works a little differently.
The tips on this page will help get you started, and assist with some of the tricky issues, like printing and citing electronic books.
The Collections
BLIS, the Library Catalog
All of the Library's in-scope electronic books are listed in the BLIS Catalog. If you have a particular book in mind, or are looking for a health-related subject, try the catalog first.
If you sign into EZ Proxy before choosing the catalog, you will be able to access most of our electronic books from off campus as easily as if you were in the Library.

A collection of full text books from McGraw-Hill including access to USMLEasy, an online testing service to help prepare students for Step 1 and Step 2 USMLE exams.
The Library subscribes to six of the fourteen titles that make up the Current Protocols collection. These databases contain rich text, table, and image content, all searchable via Natural Language and Boolean queries, or browsed via an outline presentation.
Since accessing the collection directly displays all of the titles, including those for which the Library does not have a subscription, it is recommended that you access these titles through BLIS: just search for "Current Protocols" as a title. It is recommended that you view the site with Internet Explorer.
