About the Mario E. Ramirez M.D. Library

It is the mission of the Mario E. Ramirez Library to improve the quality of health care in the Lower Rio Grande Valley by connecting health professionals and patients to reliable health information. The Ramirez Library maintains an environment for research, study, and teaching for health professionals and the community and provides state-of-the-art services and collections.

The Library is named after Dr. Mario E. Ramirez a well-known physician in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and former University of Texas Regent who also served as Vice-President for South Texas Programs at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio from 1995 to 2007.

Ramirez Library location

The Ramirez Medical Library - RAHC is located at 2102 Treasure Hills Boulevard on the first floor of the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) in Harlingen, directly behind Valley Baptist Medical Center. For information on transportation to the Ramirez Medical Library, please contact Harlingen Express.

Monday-Thursday 7:30 am - 11:00 pm
Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Driving Directions for the Ramirez Medical Library.

From the Harlingen airport, take Highway 499 south. Go south 2.5 miles and turn left on Haine Drive. After 0.3 miles, turn right on Treasure Hills Boulevard. The RAHC campus will be on your left after turning on Treasure Hills Boulevard.

Training and Classes

Hands on training in the use of Microsoft Office, Ovid, PubMed, RefWorks and other resources is offered periodically or by request.
