How do I print in the Library?

From any Library computer, use the normal print commands for the program you are using. The system will prompt you to create a username and password for each print job. You can create anything you want, it can even be just one letter. Your print job will be sent to a Pharos release station and will remain there for 12 hours. You can send as many jobs as you want with the same username and password; you are only charged when you actually print.

When you are ready to print:

  1. Go to either one of the print release stations (there are two near the printers on the third floor).
  2. Press any key to display the login screen.
  3. Swipe your ID, guest card, or departmental account card. Leave the password field blank and click the Log In button.
  4. Click on Print a Document.
  5. A list of all the jobs waiting to print will be displayed. Select your job by clicking on the username you selected.
  6. Click the Print button, enter the password for this print job, and click OK. The password is case sensitive.
  7. Your print job may come out of either of the printers near the release station.
  8. Be sure to click the Log Off button on the left of the screen when you're done.

How do I create a copy card personal account?

Copy cards are debit accounts created using the magnetic strip on a HSC ID or Texas Driver License. You can bring an appropriate ID to the Circulation Desk at each Library and create an account from $1 to $50 in value. Deposits can be made by cash, check or credit card. You can also create copy card accounts and add value to existing accounts at the Add Value Station at the Nursing School copier area. The Add Value Station only accepts paper money. Library users who do not have a HSC ID or Texas Driver License should speak with Library staff about borrowing a Guest card.
