Important Customer Alert Regarding Dosing Calculators in Micromedex
March 12, 2009
Micromedex, has discovered a situation in which misleading dosing information may be printed from the dosing calculators in the Healthcare Series and Point of Care applications. This applies to versions on both the Internet and Intranet (CD) delivery platforms.
These issues may arise in the following manner:
- The user enters weight and/or dosing parameters, such as the IV concentration, into a dosing calculator.
- The dosing recommendations that are returned are correct and can be printed for use at the point of care.
- If the user decides to enter a new patient or dosing characteristic into the available text fields but does not click the "Resubmit" button or the "Enter" key (hard return), it is still possible to print a 'results' page with the new patient or dosing characteristics in the header, but the previous results continue to be displayed in the body of the document. Note: the correct dosing information will be generated upon hitting the "Resubmit" or "Enter" key.
This functionality will soon be enhanced on the Online System to prevent a potentially misleading display of the dosing result soon. it will be fixed with the Intranet Volume 141, expected to ship June 2009.
