How to Print with Pharos UnipriNT®

There is a 10-cent per page charge to print in the Library. There is no charge to use the workstations in the Library, a charge is only assessed for printing.

At the Workstation

  1. Send a print command as you normally would. For example, by going to the File Menu and choosing Print.
  2. A pop up window will ask you to create an Owner Name. You may enter whatever you like. We suggest you use your last name or e-mail Username.
  3. Click the Next button.
  4. Create a Password for the print job. You may enter whatever you would like. Passwords are case sensitive and you must know the password to release the job.
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. If you are in the Computer Lab, there will be a sticker on the monitor telling you which Print Release Station (Library Lab 1 or Library Lab 2) you will need to use. If you are on the third, fourth, or fifth floor, you can use either Print Release Station on the third floor.

You can send as many print jobs as you like. When you are ready to pick up your print jobs, proceed to the Print Release Station.

Money Saving Tips

  1. If available, use Print Preview and only print the pages you really need. Print Preview can usually be found under the File menu.
  2. When printing from OVID, only print the fields you really need. For example, don't print the abstracts if you are going to photocopy the article.
  3. In OVID Web, use the Citation Manager to minimize the extra graphics in your print output.
  4. Save your work to a floppy disk instead of printing.
  5. Some databases, such as OVID, allow you to email search results instead of printing.

If you need help with any of these tips, please ask at one of the Service Desks in the Library.

At the Print Release Station

  1. Press any key or move the mouse to get the log-in screen. This is very important. If you swipe your card while the screensaver is showing, it will not read the correct number.
  2. Swipe the card you used to set up your TRAC account. For most people, this will be your UTHSCSA ID card or a Texas driver's license. If your department is paying for your printing, you may have been given an separate TRAC card instead.
  3. Do not enter anything in the Password field, and click Log on.
If you get an error message, make sure that you did not enter a password and that your account number was read correctly. If you didn't get rid of the screensaver before you swiped the card, the account number shown will be wrong. Clear all of the fields out and try again.
  4. Select your job by clicking on it once. Note the number of pages and the charge to print.
  5. At this point you can click Print to release the print job to the Printer, or Delete to cancel the print job.
  6. You will be prompted to enter the password you created for this job. Enter the Password and click OK.
  7. Click Log off to ensure that the next person can't release jobs on your account.
  8. Proceed to the printer and pick up your job.
If you need help at any time, please ask at any of the Library's Service Desks.
