The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Laredo Campus Extension Library is located in the new Academic Building at 1937 E. Bustamante St. Laredo, TX 78041.

The library is open to all UTHSCSA faculty, staff, and students as well as members of the Laredo community. The book collection at the Laredo campus library does not circulate at this time.

Hours

Patrons needing assistance during other hours should contact the Briscoe Library at (210) 567-2440 or visit the Get Help page. From within the Library, a phone is available that directly dials the Briscoe Library in San Antonio, please use that phone if you need assistance.

UTHSCSA faculty, staff and students who need to use the Library in the evenings and on weekends can contact the Laredo Campus Police for entry.

Collection

The Laredo Campus Extension Library has full access to the electronic resources licensed by the UTHSCSA Libraries. In addition, the library has a variety of books and journals for library patrons to view while in the library. At this time, the Library collection is for library use only. However, special arrangements may be made for faculty, staff and students to check-out Library materials by contacting Linda Levy at (210) 567-2440 or by emailing levy@uthscsa.edu.

Books, articles, journals and other library materials located at the Briscoe Library in San Antonio may be requested by Laredo Campus Extension personnel at no charge through Document Delivery. Materials not owned by the UTHSCSA Libraries may be requested through Interlibrary Loan. There may be no charge for some Interlibrary Loan materials. Please contact Linda Levy at levy@uthscsa.edu with questions. Articles not available online can usually be scanned and delivered electronically to the Laredo Campus Extension Library.

Wireless access is available in the library. Wireless users are requested to register their laptops to access the network. In Laredo, laptops can be registered by calling the Briscoe Library at (210) 567-2440.

Library computers are available with Internet, email, Microsoft Office products and provide access to all electronic resources available on the main campus. Printing is available in the Laredo Campus Extension Library.

Meetings may be held in the Laredo Campus Extension Library. Study tables and chairs are available to all library visitors. To reserve Library space for a meeting, contact the Briscoe Library at (210) 567-2440.

Hands on training in the use of the library catalog, Ovid, PubMed, RefWorks and other resources is offered periodically or by request. A list of currently scheduled training classes may be found at http://www.library.uthscsa.edu/consultation/schedule.cfm. Food and drinks are permitted in the Library.
