Most of the resources listed on the UTHSCSA Libraries Catalog, Electronic Journals, Database, and Electronic Books pages are proprietary to the publishers and/or individual copyright holders. Use of these resources is restricted to authorized users for their personal or research use on campus or in some cases, at remote locations. An authorized user is defined as faculty, staff, or student currently employed by or registered at the UTHSCSA or walk-in users of the UTHSCSA Libraries. In general, most electronic resource licenses allow authorized users to (i) print data and make limited copies of such printed search results, (ii) download limited amounts of data and (iii) retransmit data electronically or otherwise to a limited number of authorized users at the same institution for personal or research use only. Without written permission from the publisher, authorized users are precluded from: (i) copying, duplication, redistribution, retransmission, publication, transfer or commercial or other exploitation of the electronic resources, except as permitted under license agreements, (ii) preparation of derivative works or incorporation of the databases or contents thereof in any other work or system; (iii) downloading of the contents in their entirety or lengthy sequence. In some cases publishers prohibit interlibrary lending and/or electronic course reserve copies of their licensed products. Individual publishers may monitor use of their electronic resources and failure to abide by these provisions could result in termination of your privileges to access an electronic resource or in cancellation of a particular resource. If you have questions about authorized uses of electronic publications licensed by the UTHSCSA Libraries, please contact Susan Buentello, Associate Library Director for Collection Resources, at (210)567-2400 or by email to buentellos@uthscsa.edu.
