A project developed through a collaboration of U.S. Government agencies, public health organizations and health sciences libraries. The goal is to provide a portal to health information tailored to the public health workforce.

Healthy People 2010 is a set of health objectives for the Nation to achieve over the first decade of the new century. It can be used by many different people, States, communities, professional organizations, and others to help them develop programs to improve health.

This site lets you search for published literature related to the Healthy People 2010 focus areas including diabetes, cancer, health communication, immunization and infectious diseases, and maternal and child health.

The EPA is the lead Federal agency charged with improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans, supporting health services research that will improve the quality of health care and promote evidence-based decisionmaking.

The Specialized Information Services (SIS) Division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) is responsible for information resources and services in toxicology, environmental health, chemistry, HIV/AIDS, and specialized topics in minority health.

The overall goals of the NICHSR are to make the results of health services research, including practice guidelines and technology assessments, readily available.

REMM is a downloadable online diagnostic and treatment toolkit designed for health care providers, who may have to provide medical care during a radiation incident. HEALTHmap brings together aggregate data on diseases around the world and provides a new way to visualize and think about various public health situations and potential epidemics.

ASP is a full-text database of peer-reviewed academic journals, offering critical information from scholarly publications in the social sciences, humanities, education, computer science, medical sciences, ethnic studies, etc.

UpToDate is an electronic, full-text clinical resource that provides instantaneous, evidence-based answers to the most commonly asked questions in clinical practice. No off-campus access is available.

RefWorks allows you to download references from some databases directly, to import a text file of citations, or to add citations by hand. You can then import the citations into a written document and format a bibliography.

Ageline is a searchable electronic database containing detailed summaries of publications about older adults and aging, including books, journal and magazine articles, and research reports. AgeLine is produced by the American Association for Retired Persons.

POPLINE brings together over 280,000 records representing published and unpublished literature in the field of population, family planning, and related health issues.

MEDLINE is produced by the National Library of Medicine and indexes almost 5000 international biomedical, nursing, and dental journals from 1966 to the present.

PubMed is a search system from the National Library of Medicine. It includes references from MEDLINE and MEDLINE in Process, as well as a small number of references not included in these databases.

Population Index presents an annotated bibliography of recently published books, journal articles, working papers, and other materials on population topics.

CHID is a bibliographic database produced by agencies of the National Institutes of Health that provides titles, abstracts, and availability information for health information and health education resources.

The Education Resources Information Center is a digital library of education-related resources.

PsycINFO is an abstract database of psychological literature from the 1800s to the present.

Digital dissertations includes more than 2 million doctoral dissertations and masters theses with coverage from 1861 to the present. More than 600,000 recent documents are available in native or image PDF formats for immediate free download.

The Web of Science provides access to current and retrospective multidisciplinary information from approximately 8,500 research journals.

SCOPUS is an abstracts database of more than 27 million records from over 14,000 peer reviewed titles in the medical, scientific, technical, and social science literature. Full-text patent information is also included.

The objective for the development of this Web site is to provide a comprehensive collection of links to publicly available, geographically discrete health data for the state of Texas from reliable and authoritative providers of information.

CDC is at the forefront of public health efforts to prevent and control infectious and chronic diseases, injuries, workplace hazards, disabilities and environmental health threats.

The Department of State Health Services includes the programs provided by the Texas Department of Health, the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and the Health Care Information Council, plus mental-health community services and state hospital programs operated by the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.

Fedstats is an access portal to statistics collected and published by more than 100 Federal agencies.

The primary health statistics agency in the U.S., this CDC site is an enormous virtual data warehouse.

Contains the latest state-level data on demographics, health, and health policy, including health coverage, access, financing and legislation.

The US Census Bureau provides access to demographic data collected nationally.
